Institute of Optics
The Institute of Optics (IO) of ZhejiangUniversity provides Bachelor, Master and PhD Programs in Optics.
We also accept post doctor researchers and visiting scientists in thefields of optics and atomic physics.
IO possesses of a provincial key subject of ˇ°Opticsˇ±. IO is a cooperation partner of the National Key Subject of ˇ°Optical Engineeringˇ± and the State key Laboratory of Modern Optical Instrumentation, in cooperation with the Department of Opto-Electronics. There are 10 professors (including one academician of ChineseAcademy of Sciencer), 5 associate professors in IO.

Main Research Fields

1.   Quantum Optics and Coherence OpticsUltracold Atom and its Applications, Bose-Einstein Condensation, Atomic interferometry, Quantum Information, Partially Coherent Beams.

2.   Laser Physics Beam Transformation, Matrix Optics, SolidState Laser, Metal Smoke Laser, Semiconductor Laser, Nano-Optics, Laser pplications.

3.   Opto-Electronics Special Optical Fiber and Fiber Optic Sensor, PPLN nonlinear material, Crystal Film Material, Low-Dimension Structure Material and its applications.

4.   Atomic Physics (ExcitatedState of Atom and Matter Characteristics).IO was awarded National Natural Science Prize, National Invention Prize, National Science and Technology Advancement Prize and many     Provincial scientific prizes. Over 30 papers were published in well known journals by teachers and students each year on average.
